Historic Kansas State Penitentiary Tours.
The Lansing Historical Society and Museum is proud to announce that the historic Kansas State Penitentiary, a site of great historical significance, will be open for tours starting Friday, September 13, 2024. Tickets for this two-hour tour are priced at $30. Our guides, former correctional officers of the institution, will provide a unique perspective, making you feel privileged to be part of this experience.
Tours begin at 115 East Kansas Lansing Historical Society and Museum
All tours will begin at the Lansing Historical Society and Museum located on the front lawn of the prison in a fully restored Atchison, Topeka & Santa Fe Depot, 115 East Kansas Avenue.
NO CHILDREN UNDER THE AGE OF 12 ALLOWED
We cannot allow children under the age of 12 inside the walls of the Kansas State Penitentiary. If you attempt to bring your children, you will not be allowed on the tour and you will be issued a refund.
The tour season for 2024 is a limited-time opportunity, running until the last weekend in October. The prison will close for the season and reopen in March 2025. Don’t miss your chance to experience this unique historical site!
