Historic Kansas State Penitentiary Tours.

Tours start at the Lansing Historical Society & Museum
Every story has a beginning. At Kansas State Penitentiary, it starts right here at the Lansing Historical Society and Museum.
But the real history? That’s waiting just beyond, inside the historic Kansas State Penitentiary.
Go behind the walls. Book your tour online today. We do welcome walk-in but there is no guarantee there will be a tour when you arrive or space available.
Tours: Friday, Saturday & Sunday | 9 a.m., Noon, 3 p.m.
A quick reminder about our Tours at KSP – While we do allow walk-up guests, we strongly recommend booking in advance. Tours with no advance reservations may be canceled if we do not have the minimum number of participants required to operate the tour.
Likewise, waiting until the last minute carries another risk—we may already be at capacity and unable to accommodate additional guests.
The best way to guarantee your spot is to reserve online before arriving. We would hate for you to make the trip only to discover that a tour has been canceled or is already full.

Feel free to take photos inside the walls on all tours!
NO CHILDREN UNDER THE AGE OF 12 ALLOWED
We cannot allow children under the age of 12 inside the walls of the Kansas State Penitentiary. If you attempt to bring your children, you will not be allowed on the tour and you will be issued a refund.
